The casting directors for 20th Century Fox Television’s musical series “Glee” are casting new recurring guest starring roles for the show’s 3rd season, which will begin shooting in late June, 2011. The extras casting director is also seeking talent above 18 years of age who can play high school age students of all types. Extreme nerds and cheerleaders in the same age range are especially needed.
The recurring guest starring roles could very well become series regulars. Mike O’Malley, Heather Morris and Naya Rivera were promoted to the main cast of “Glee” in season 2 after having recurring guest starring roles in the show’s first season.
Instead of using traditional network casting calls for the first season, “Glee” creator Ryan Murphy spent three months on Broadway, where he found Matthew Morrison and Jenna Ushkowitz. Actors with no theatrical experience who audition are required to prove they can sing and dance as well as act. There are currently 15 starring roles on “Glee”. Season 3 will premier in September, 2011.
The principal actor casting director for “Glee” is seeking the following for recurring guest starring roles:
• Female, 18 yrs and older to play 15-16 yrs. Ethnicity unspecified. To play Rebecca, a very beautiful talent with very strong singing skills. Must have the ability to sing a wide variety of musical styles.
• Female, 18 yrs and older to play 15-18 yrs. Ethnicity unspecified. To play Marilyn, not very attractive, but must be a very strong singer.

The base salary for SAG extra work is currently $134.00 for time spent up to 8 work hours, with overtime after that. The non-union rate is $64.00 for up to 8 work hours, with overtime after that. The average television series work day is 12 hours.

Story:
The series follows an optimistic Lima, Ohio high school Spanish teacher named Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison) as he tries to transform McKinley High school’s not-so-perfect Glee Club “New Directions” to a top level show choir with the help of fellow teacher Emma Pillsburry (Jayma Mays). “Glee” follows the performers competing on the show choir competition circuit, while its members deal with relationships, sexuality and social issues.
