The hit FX Network Golden Globe Nominated horror-drama series American Horror Story is in production on it’s third season and the show’s casting director in New Orleans is accepting headshots and resumes from actors for various speaking roles. An email address has been set up for talent to submit. In addition to the New Orleans casting, additional casting takes place in Los Angeles for recurring and guest starring roles. The show’s extras are being cast throughout the season in New Orleans. Crew members can submit resumes via email also, details below. Filming takes place in New Orleans and will continue through January, 2014. “American Horror Story: Coven” airs 10pm ET Wednesdays on FX.
“American Horror Story: Coven” centers on witches and voodoo. It’s been around 300 years since the Salem witch trials. Those who remain are almost extinct and in danger again. A school has opened in New Orleans to teach protection to the young. The long-absent Supreme, Fiona, arrives to also protect the coven and their secrets. Fiona’s daughter, Cordelia, teaches at the school. Events reveal a long-held rivalry between the witches of Salem and the Voodoo practitioners of New Orleans, as well as a historic grudge between Voodoo Queen Marie Laveau and socialite serial killer Delphine LaLaurie. The primary theme of the season is oppression; specifically, the oppression of marginalized groups by other marginalized groups. Other themes include witchcraft, Voodoo, racism and family, such as the relationships between mothers and daughters. The season is set in modern day and the 1830s.
Primetime Emmy Award winners Ryan Murphy and Dante Di Loreto are executive producing for Ryan Murphy Productions. Murphy’s good friend and co-creator of “American Horror Story”, four-time Primetime Emmy Award nominee Brad Falchuk, is also executive producer. Other notable television series and films produced by Ryan Murphy Productions include “Nip/Tuck,” “Glee,” “The New Normal”, and the recently completed feature film “The Town That Dreaded Sundown” starring Addison Timlin and the late Ed Lauter. This was Lauter’s final film before his passing on October 16, 2013.
