Tulip Road Productions and Cue The Dog Productions are in pre-production on the Lifetime Movie Network psychological thriller movie “Flowers In The Attic” based on the extremely popular 1979 novel by Virginia Andrews, which has sold over 40 million copies to date. Casting directors in Los Angeles are holding auditions for starring, co-starring, and day player roles. Roles being cast include the four Dollanganger children, and the production would prefer to hire actors who are over 18 years of age, but that can play younger for the teen roles. The extras are being cast throughout production, which will take place in Vancouver from August 12, 2013 through September 14, 2013.
“Flowers In The Attic” tells the story of the four Dollanganger children, Christopher, Cathy, and twins Carrie and Cory. After the death of their father, the five siblings go with their self-absorbed mother Corrine to live with her very wealthy parents in their Virginia mansion. Corrine’s determined to please her bitter, viciously cruel mother and her dying father, who disinherited her upon her marriage to his much younger half brother. In order to win back her father, Corrine locks her children in an unused guest room where they’re visited only by Corrine and her terrifying mother, and where a captivity meant to last a few weeks turns into three years.
Starring in “Flowers In The Attic” is two-time Screen Actors Guild Awards nominee Heather Graham playing the role of Corrine Dollanganger. Graham has been busy lately recently starring in “The Hangover Part III,” “Compulsion,” and the upcoming feature films “Goodbye to All That” and “Behaving Badly” starring opposite Selena Gomez, Mary-Louise Parker and Elisabeth Shue. Also starring in “Flowers In The Attic” is Academy Award winner Ellen Burstyn playing the role of Grandmother Olivia Foxworth. Burstyn has also been very busy recently starring in the upcoming feature films “Enemy Way,” “The Calling,” and “Draft Day”.
Filmmaker Deborah Chow will direct “Flowers In The Attic” from an adapted teleplay written by Kayla Alpert. Aside from directing two short films, Chow’s only other directorial credit is the feature film “The High Cost of Living”, which won Best Canadian First Feature Film at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2010. Two-time Gemini Awards nominee Harvey Kahn is producing along with Charles W. Fries. Executive producers are Merideth Finn and Michele Weiss of Cue The Dog Productions. Longtime Lifetime movie producer Damian Ganczewski will also executive produce.
