Berlanti Television and Bonanza Productions in association with Fremantlemedia and Warner Bros. Television are getting set to begin production on a new science fiction television series pilot ‘The Tomorrow People’ for CW Television Network. Casting directors in New York and Los Angeles are holding auditions for series regulars and possible recurring roles, with guest starring and day player roles to be cast subsequently. All of the show’s stand-ins and background extras will be cast in New York throughout production beginning on March 18, 2013.
“The Tomorrow People” is based on the British children’s science fiction television series that ran from 1973 and 1979. The show centers on a high school student named Steven who discovers that he’s not losing his mind, he’s developing paranormal powers. However, Stephen is not alone but rather a part of the next stage in human evolution – possessing special powers, including the ability to teleport and communicate with each other telepathically. Although Steve’s uncle is a scientist for ULTRA, a secret government agency trying to neutralize the Tomorrow People, he must choose between his own kind and helping his uncle. Steve meets a beautiful ally named Cara, who hopes to recruit him so he can telepathically locate his long-lost father, who happens to be the Tomorrow People’s missing leader.
Starring in “The Tomorrow People” is the extremely beautiful and talented Soap Opera Digest Awards winner Peyton List, playing the role of Cara. List grew up in Baltimore, Maryland where at the age of eight began modeling for the children’s agency Camera Ready Kids. She began attending the School of American Ballet‘s summer program when she was twelve. List broke into professional acting at fifteen when she signed a three-year contract with “As the World Turns” playing Lucy Montgomery. She recently starred in the feature film “Meeting Evil” starring opposite Samuel L. Jackson and Luke Wilson.
Three-time Primetime Emmy Award nominee Danny Cannon will direct the pilot episode of “The Tomorrow People” from a teleplay written by Phil Klemmer. Cannon is from England and is a graduate of the National Film and Television School. His television series executive producing and directorial credits include “Eleventh Hour,” “The Forgotten,” “Dark Blue,” “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” “CSI: Miami,” “CSI: NY,” and “Nikita”. He also directed the feature films “Judge Dredd” and “The Young Americans”. His Emmy nominations came from executive producing “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation”.
Two-time Directors Guild of America DGA Award nominee and two-time Writers Guild of America WGA Award nominee Greg Berlanti is executive producing under the banner of his company Berlanti Television, along with Melissa Kellner Berman. Berlanti Television is also a production company for the CW hit series “Arrow”. Julie Plec, the executive producer for CW’s “The Vampire Diaries” and it’s upcoming spin-off series “The Originals” will hold the same title on “The Tomorrow People”. Anthony Optican will executive produce for Fremantle Media. Roger Damon Price, who created the original 70’s series will executive produce as well. “The Tomorrow People” writer Phil Klemmer will produce the show.

Story:
In the vein of X-Men and Heroes, Tomorrow People is the story of several young people from around the world who represent the next stage in human evolution, possessing special powers, including the ability to teleport and communicate with each other telepathically. Together they work to defeat the forces of evil. 18-year-old Stephen discovers that he’s not losing his mind, he’s developing paranormal powers. Stephen’s not alone, however he is part of a new species, the “Tomorrow People” who are secretly at war with a government agency ULTRA who see their kind as a threat to humankind Both sides want to recruit Stephen for his extraordinary, yet untapped abilities. In the end, he must choose where his allegiances lie. With the human family he loves, with the Tomorrow People who need him, with the father who abandoned him, or with one of his two love interests, one human and one super-human.
