Chuck Lorre Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television are in pre-production on a new multi-camera 1/2 hour comedy series pilot for CBS titled “Mom”. Shooting begins mid-April, 2013 in Los Angeles. Casting directors in Los Angeles and New York are holding auditions for series regulars, possible recurring, and guest starring roles. The extras will be cast throughout production in Los Angeles. There will be a classroom of fourth graders cast as extras, as well as many other types and ages.
“Mom” centers on single mother and divorcee Christy and her two children, happy well-adjusted fourth grade son Roscoe and sixteen year old daughter Violet. Christy is newly sober and moves to California’s Napa Valley, ending up having an affair with her married boss, while dealing with her stoner ex-husband Baxter. Christy’s mother Bonnie, who is also a recovering alcoholic and former druggie, comes back into their lives and becomes quite close to Violet – who herself has started having sex, drinking and smoking weed with her happy-go-lucky boyfriend Luke.
Starring in “Mom” is Screen Actors Guild Award nominee Anna Faris as newly sober single mom Christy. Faris’ career is in very high gear just completing the film “I Give It a Year” starring opposite Minnie Driver, and performing the voice of Sam Sparks in “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2”. She is set to star as Pvt. Judy Benjamin in the New Line Cinema remake of Private Benjamin, and has several feature films lined up as Executive Producer. Four-time Golden Globe Award nominee Allison Janney will play Faris’ mother Bonnie, and relative newcomer Blake Garrett Rosenthal will play Christy’s son Roscoe.
Six-time Primetime Emmy Award nominee Chuck Lorre will executive produce “Mom” under the banner of his company Chuck Lorre Productions. Lorre has created many hit sitcoms including “Grace Under Fire,” Cybill,” “Dharma & Greg,” “Two and a Half Men,” and “The Big Bang Theory”. Also serving as executive producers are Primetime Emmy Award winner Eddie Gorodetsky, and Gemma Baker. Lorre wrote the pilot episode with frequent collaborators Gorodetsky and Baker. Ten-time Primetime Emmy Award winner James Burrows will direct the pilot episode.
