Season eight of “Desperate Housewives” is now in production on it’s eighth season, and auditions will be ongoing from July, 2011 through April, 2012. Both principal actor and background extras casting takes place in Los Angeles, CA The single camera comedy-drama-mystery series is filmed at the Colonial Street Backlot and sound stages at Universal Studios.
It is not known if this is the final season of “Desperate Housewives”. All of the series regulars have signed a one-year contract for season eight, with an option for season nine. The show’s creator and executive producer signed a two-year extension contract with ABC that could potentially keep “Desperate Housewives” on the air until 2013. However no official announcement has been made by ABC.
Primetime Emmy winning Scott Genkinger and seven-time Primetime Emmy winning Junie Lowry-Johnson are casting the guest starring, recurring, and day player principal actor roles. The extras, stand-ins, and photo doubles for the series stars are being cast by E.L. Staehli of Central Casting. The show is under SAG contract, however both SAG and non-union extras are cast.
The eighth season of “Desperate Housewives” will premier September 25, 2011 on ABC.

Story:
The setting of the show is the street of Wisteria Lane in the fictional American town of Fairview in the Eagle State. It follows the lives of a group of women, seen through the eyes of their dead neighbor. They work through domestic struggles and family life, while facing the secrets, crimes and mysteries hidden behind the doors of their—at the surface—beautiful and seemingly perfect suburban neighborhood. The show features an ensemble cast, headed by Teri Hatcher as Susan Mayer, Felicity Huffman as Lynette Scavo, Marcia Cross as Bree Van de Kamp and Eva Longoria as Gabrielle Solis. Brenda Strong narrates the show as the deceased Mary Alice Young, appearing sporadically in flashbacks or dreams.
