ABC Studios in association with Shondaland are in production on the new medical drama ‘Off the Map’, which will be filmed in Hawaii beginning on August 30th. There will be two open casting calls for both AFTRA members and Non-Union talent for speaking roles and extras.
The series is being executive produced by Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers who are partners in the production company Shondaland. They are producers of the ABC shows Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice, and they also bring their Primetime Emmy nominated Principal Actor Casting team of Linda Lowy and John Brace. Jenna Bans, who inked a two-year deal with ABC, will serve as head writer/co-executive producer. Laurie Foi will be casting principal actors and extras in Hawaii.
This ensemble drama is set in a South American Amazon village. Here is what Laurie Foi is seeking:
People of all ages from children to seniors, male and female to portray roles of inhabitants of a tiny town in the South American jungle region. Spanish and Portuguese speaking abilities are a plus. Laurie is also looking for lots of children and boys who can play soccer. Applicants must have a United States SSN# and work visa. No acting experience is necessary.
Off The Map will air in midseason behind Desperate Housewives on Sundays.

Story:
An uplifting medical drama that explores how far you have to go to truly heal. Welcome to “la ciudad de las estrellas” (the city of stars), a tiny town in the South American jungle which has one understaffed, under-stocked medical clinic. That’s where idealistic young Dr. Lily Brenner just landed, along with fellow doctors Mina Minard and Manny Diaz. All of these young doctors are running away from personal demons, but they aren’t the only ones with emotional baggage. Take the legendary and enigmatic Ben Keeton, who was the youngest Chief of Surgery at UCLA. He walked away from it all to found the clinic. Together with his right-hand doctor, Otis Cole, he’ll teach these newcomers how to save lives in the most challenging environment they’ve ever worked in.
